‘I was looking for construction companies on Instagram and thinking about furniture at the same time. My mother came across the MBL profile by chance and sent it to me. I subscribed on Instagram, Telegram and YouTube, read the posts and watched the live streams. At the same time I screenshotted everything I liked and put it all in a folder on the phone.’

Why it worked online

There was a design project

Olga already had a finished design project for the apartment. MBL worked within it — selecting upholstered furniture and decor to fit the existing plan.

Reference folder

For months Olga had been collecting screenshots from MBL’s Instagram — sofas, rugs, lighting. By the time it came to the selection, the manager already knew what to show her.

The manager at the factories

Raya, the manager, travelled round the factories, filmed video reviews, sat on the chairs and checked how firm the mattresses were. ‘Every question was answered straight away.’

Week 0

Discovering MBL through Instagram

Olga’s mother sent her the MBL profile. She subscribed to every channel — Instagram, Telegram, YouTube. For months she read the posts, watched the live streams and built up a folder of models she liked.

Week 1

Design project sent to Kirill

When the design project for the apartment was ready, Olga sent it to MBL’s head, Kirill Levin. She had a quick reply.

Week 2

Video call with Kirill and Anna

A week later there was a video call with Kirill and manager Anna. Olga explained that she was interested in upholstered furniture and decorative pieces. They handle the case goods themselves.

Week 3

A file with possible furniture and prices

A week after the call a file arrived with the selected models and prices. Olga went through it and saw that the budget was acceptable. We signed the contract.

The next day

A WhatsApp group, manager Raya at the carpet factory

The day after the contract a WhatsApp group was created. Manager Raya went out to the carpet factory. In a single day a huge number of items were closed: the sofa and its upholstery, carpets, chairs, the table, metal details. ‘Probably nobody has ever chosen faster.’

Made-to-order production

Almost every item was made to specific fabrics and dimensions. Manager Raya travelled to the production site, checked every item and filmed a video report. Olga approved it.

A 20-foot container to Vladivostok

MBL found the shipping company themselves and brought a logistics specialist into the group chat. The container took about 3 weeks to reach Vladivostok, plus another week for customs clearance. Fully turnkey — Olga did not have to think about a thing.

Temporary storage warehouse

The renovation of the apartment dragged on (as it usually does). The furniture sat in the warehouse for another 2 months. When the renovation was finished, it was delivered and installed.

The only thing Olga regrets: not ordering more

‘I was keeping to a set budget — and later, when the furniture was already on its way, I thought: we should also have ordered bed linen, kitchen knives and pans. I watched the live stream — a woman had come for an in-person selection and they went off to a bed linen factory, and it simply superb. I kept thinking: what a shame I did not take it. My only regret.’

This is a rare and important story: the client does not regret what he spent — he regrets spending too little. The additional categories (textiles, tableware, kitchenware, accessories) are real items worth adding a container for.
