In the manner of a parable about perfection and imperfection, Danish designer Louise Campbell dispelled the sacred aura of crystal and created the Nervous Zénith chandelier of 2013. Built from classic Zénith blueprints, but using specially designed distorted prisms, allowing emotions to take over the systems at times, it resembles Zénith as we know it, but turns it on its head. Campbell's goal was to play with the limitless possibilities that the crystal provided rather than adhere to traditional precepts. Nervous Zenith is discreet, with a flickering candle set among the sparkling lights of an electrified chandelier just in case. The chandelier tilts smoothly to one side, as if reaching for something out of reach. She is thoughtful and understanding, with a huge number of small, deliberate “flaws” - just like the people who admire her. Simply put, Nervous Zenith is nothing more than human.
