ASTEP Model 548 Table Lamp

The ASTEP Model 548 table lamp is a stylish and functional lighting device that will add elegance and character to your interior. Its modern design, superior material quality and technical capabilities make it the ideal choice for creating effective lighting and enhancing the atmosphere in a room.

Designed in 1951, the table lamp is an exploration of the balance and reflection of light through a screen, a recurring theme in the work of Gino Sarfatti. The 548 provides both indirect and diffuse light with an adjustable spotlight that points upward toward the reflective screen. A large diffuser made of orange, blue or white methacrylate provides a very complex lighting effect and is an integral part of the illusion and play with perception. The white-painted aluminum spotlight is mounted on a tubular rod of polished or blued brass, and a small brass rod in the base serves as a counterweight in the beautiful balancing act of the individual elements of the 548. In the reissue, the original incandescent lamp has been replaced by an LED source, and an optical dimmer is discreetly integrated into the original design.
